Nathaniel Pryor Reed was born on July 22, 1933 in New York, New York. He received a B.A. from Trinity College in 1955, and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He was Vice President of the Hobe Sound Company in Hobe Sound, Florida, 1960 to 1971; a member of the Florida Board of Antiquities, 1962 to 1963; and a member of the Florida Board of Pollution Control in 1968.
